Brottsofferjouren Värmland
Brottsofferjouren Värmland is a non-profit organization that offers support, guidance, and someone to talk to for people who have been affected by crime, witnessed a crime, or simply need someone to talk to. Brottsofferjouren mission is to provide support to anyone facing a difficult situation.
In this collaboration, the focus was on creating communication materials that make it easier for people to reach out, in a way that feels safe and welcoming. Many hesitate to contact support services because the information often feels formal, clinical, or intimidating. The goal was to design something gentle and approachable, lowering the emotional barrier and creating a sense of safety.
Together with Brottsofferjouren Värmland, the objectives were to:
Share support information in a discreet, non-judgmental way
Create materials that work both personally and publicly
Encourage openness and conversation through uplifting messages
Keep the tone soft and inviting
Align with Brottsofferjouren’s visual identity without feeling heavy or frightening
The goal was to create a design that makes the information feel easy to access and comforting to engage with.
Design Concept & Visual Approach
The visual direction focused towards warmth, relatability, and personalization. To balance the seriousness of the topic with a friendly tone, I created 12 illustrated animals, which comes with short motivational messages as stickers. The idea is that users can choose the stickers they like and personalize the cards—sticking them on the cards or adding their own messages—making the experience more interactive and personal.
The animals were chosen for their universal appeal, making them approachable and engaging for a wide audience rather than targeting a specific group.
Using Brottsofferjouren’s color palette, with rounded shapes and minimal details, so the messages remain the focus. On the back of each card, contact information is included.
The result is a set of motivational cards designed to fit into everyday life — place them on a fridge, keep them in a wallet, use them as a bookmark, or share them with a friend. They are suitable for workshops and public spaces like schools, libraries, hospitals, and community centers.
For individuals in difficult or unsafe situations, the cards offer a subtle way to hold onto important information.
If you’re going through a difficult time, please know you don’t have to face it alone — don’t hesitate to reach out for support.
