Bruksort 2.0 - A story about the future

Bruksort 2.0 is a community driven project in Hagfors, funded by Shift Sweden, focused on sustainable development, citizen participation, and innovative mobility solutions. Out of 90 applications, Hagfors was selected for its strong local engagement and forward-looking vision.

Inspired by the words of poet Ismael Ataria “I want us to work together to build an exciting, thriving community where everyone wants to live and contribute it will take effort, but it will be worth it” the project aims to make Hagfors a place where residents, businesses, and visitors feel at home.

Mobility and sustainability are central to the project. By exploring new transport solutions and strengthening local infrastructure, Bruksort 2.0 supports a vibrant community where both people and business can thrive. Uddeholm AB, one of the key partners, is leading the way toward fossil-free production and sustainable energy, helping make Hagfors an attractive town.

Design Concept & Visual Approach

As part of the final report for the project, I worked with the team to shape the structure of the book. In collaboration with Caisa Sixtensdotter from Lindeholm, who created the illustrations, I helped translate the project into a book format and developed the overall framework for how the content and visual elements come together.

My role focused on shaping the project into a cohesive publication, considering hierarchy, pacing, and how the illustrations interact with the text.

The visual identity leans toward earthy tones with a soft, tactile feel. The color palette was chosen to create warmth and calmness, supporting the reflective nature of the content. The layout was designed to feel like a saga, a story that sparks the imagination and draws the reader into the narrative.

In some chapters, written quotes comes with QR codes that link to YouTube recordings of the poet Ismael Ataria reading the texts aloud, allowing the reader to experience the words both visually and audibly.

The Result

The final outcome is a publication that brings the project together in an accessible format, available both in print and digitally.

The publication goes beyond the printed page, creating an immersive experience with the content. It is not just a documentation of the project, but a format that invites the reader to pause, reflect, and engage with it from multiple perspectives.

This approach reimagines the concept of a final report, by going beyond a classic printed document with only text, we created a format that is dynamic and new. It raises awareness and draws attention to the project in a memorable way.

Seeing all the hard work come to life in this illustrative format has been inspiring, and it offers a model for how future projects can transform their final reports into something more creative and collaborative.
