Tree Time AG
TreeTime AG is a Swiss company working toward long-term reforestation and sustainable forestry in Laos. Their focus is on building economic and ecological value by cooperating with local communities in cultivating and managing high-quality tree species. With strong ties to the people and landscape, their model is built on collaboration, responsibility, and long-term impact.
I was asked to visualize and communicate TreeTime AG’s mission in a way that would resonate with a local Lao audience. Their work centered around sustainable forestry and international investment, is both important and complex. In many rural Lao villages, formal education isn’t always prioritized, which can limit reading and written communication. Because of this, I chose to translate the business pitch into a simpler, more relatable story. This led to the decision to use animation: with clear visuals, everyday language, and a calm steady pace.
As someone from Laos myself, I wanted to reflect the rhythm, warmth, and culture of everyday life. The goal was to make the message engaging and accessible, easy to share via mobile phone which now is frequently used by the villagers.
Each scene was hand-drawn, as my aim was to maintain an organic and human feel. With the help of an amazing illustrator Chinmaya Chaitanya, who helped to bring those scenes to life.
The final result is a two-part animated video with Lao voice-over and English subtitles, making it accessible to both local communities and Tree Time AG.
